Modular Studios
The Enterprise Pavilion at the Arts University of Bournemouth comprises modular studios for start-up enterprises sited around a digital imaging facilities house for shared use between students and businesses. The contrast between functions is also expressed in the structure, with the facilities house defined as a massive clear-cut timber cube, which is set against the individual timber studio units slotted into an exposed steel frame. The two structures are separated by a central atrium and an exhibition space, covered by a tensile fabric conic roof, with access bridges linking both sides of the building. We were responsible for the detailed design of the main building for the client as well as the sub-contract design of the fabric canopy directly for a specialist manufacturer.
