Structural Engineering
Fenton Holloway were appointed to provide membrane and structural engineering services to a specialist contractor for the design of three temporary demountable buildings for the Shooting Arenas in Woolwich for the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
Our work entailed the structural cladding design and related bespoke support elements for incorporation onto steel box truss primary framing assembled from an existing kit of parts.
Tensile & Lightweight
We worked closely with the Architects and primary frame contractor to co-ordinate and advise on detailed interfaces providing practical and buildable alternatives.
The buildings included the Finals Range : 54m x 47m x 26m high seating building with 56m x 32m Field of Play, Combined (10m & 50m) Range : 107m x 20m wide and the 25m Range : 56m x 22m wide giving a total internal and external cladding area in excess of 20,000m²

Dovercourt
The Dovercourt Development in Bristol, comprises 129 one, two, and three bed apartments, in blocks of up to 6 storeys high. With our multifarious skills, we were able to undertake the structural engineering design for the restoration of the 19th Century buildings.
Fitzpatrick Residence
The Fitzpatrick residence in Birmingham, Alabama, is an 800m² residential building of a high-standard architectural design. Fenton Holloway were appointed to undertake the detailed design of two valley-cable tensile fabric shade canopies to be added to the building.
Newhaven ERF
On account of our experience with lightweight structures, Fenton Holloway were appointed to design the first large-scale structural use of a PVC-coated high tensile wire mesh: a screen cladding system for the 25m-tall domed structure of Newhaven Energy Recovery.
The Eden Project
The project was intended not only as a large-scale botanical garden, but also as a site of cutting-edge architecture and state-of-the-art buildings. Fenton Holloway were appointed to undertake the membrane engineering design.
