The Fitzpatrick residence in Birmingham, Alabama, is an 800m² residential building of a high-standard architectural design. On the basis of our experience in membrane engineering and architectural lightweight structures, Fenton Holloway were appointed to undertake the concept and detailed design of two valley-cable tensile fabric shade canopies to be added to the building. The project required a subtle approach to delicately integrate the added structures within the existing architecture, with new carefully detailed stainless steel elements complementing the original concrete construction.
