The Watermark development in Cardiff Bay and the “Mirage on the Marina” development in Portishead are iconic sister-buildings. They both form key parts of the redevelopment plans for their respective waterfront locations.
Fenton Holloway developed the structural concept and detailed design for these complex 10-storey cascading RC framed buildings. The residential structures are designed to maximise their marine views including south facing terraces at all levels. Despite their similar roots and appearance, the design of the two buildings developed along different paths and the final designs were unique.
The Enterprise Pavilion at the Arts University of Bournemouth comprises modular studios for start-up enterprises sited around a digital imaging facilities house. The contrast between functions is also expressed in the structure, with the facilities house defined as a massive clear-cut timber cube, which is set against the individual timber studio units slotted into an exposed steel frame.
A mixed use development comprising an outdoor market, restaurant, offices, supermarket, cash & carry and warehousing with associated car parking, servicing area and hard landscaping designed by Barlow Henley Architects.
Designed by Angus Meek Architects, this development of a key brownfield site overlooks Clifton Suspension Bridge at the gateway to South Bristol. Nine medium rise residential apartment blocks consist of 184 one, two and three bedroom units.
