Breath Taking Pedestrian Area
Forming part of the City Centre Environmental Improvements, the Cascades scheme was designed to open up the harbour and provide an extensive pedestrian area. The originally proposed structural system proved inappropriate to a marine environment.
FHL were employed by the main contractor to undertake the overall structural re-design of this extensive suspended marine platform structure. We proposed an alternative piling system and connections to the structural steelwork deck which carried a combination of timber decking and precast elements forming the water features, steps and promenade areas.
